The Montreal Canadiens' 2024-25 season had plenty of good stories. One of them was certainly goaltender Jakub Dobes, as the 24-year-old netminder demonstrated plenty of promise after being called up to the Habs' roster in late December.
The Montreal Canadiens' 2024-25 season had plenty of good stories. One of them was certainly goaltender Jakub Dobes, as the 24-year-old netminder demonstrated plenty of promise after being called up to the Habs' roster in late December.
In 16 games with the Canadiens on the year, Dobes recorded a 7-4-3 record, a .909 save percentage, a 2.74 goals-against average, and one shutout. He was also quite solid while down in the AHL with the Laval Rocket, posting a 9-3-1 record, a 2.44 goals-against average, and a .910 save percentage in 14 games.
With how well Dobes handled himself with the Canadiens this past season, it is hard not to feel optimistic about him heading into 2025-26. Now that he has gotten some NHL experience under his belt, it would not be surprising in the slightest if we see the 6-foot-4 goaltender take another notable step forward with his development next season.
If Dobes hits a new level for the Canadiens next season, it would only make them an even more difficult team to go up against. It is going to be very fascinating to see what kind of year the promising youngster can put together for the Habs from here.
