LB Nick Bolton believes Kansas City Chiefs can be No. 1 defense in NFL

Linebacker Nick Bolton has high expectations for the Kansas City Chiefs defense in the 2025 season.

Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Nick Bolton has been one of the most productive linebackers in the league over his first four seasons. After his 2023 season was hampered by injuries, Bolton played in 16 games last season and finished the year with 106 total tackles, three sacks, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble, and an interception, making him one of the best playmakers on the Chiefs defense.

Bolton is one of several highlight players for defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, along with defensive end George Karlaftis, defensive tackle Chris Jones, and cornerback Trent McDuffie, to name a few. With the talent around him and Spagnuolo's coaching, Bolton believes Kansas City's defense could be the best in the league this upcoming season.

Speaking to reporters at training camp this week, Bolton kept it short and sweet, saying the team has all the right pieces to get them to be the No. 1 defense in the NFL this year.

When asked to follow up on his comments about the defense's ability to thrive this year, Bolton would credit the defensive line, coaching staff, and efficiency of the unit, while also believing they'll be able to cause plenty of turnovers.

While the Chiefs have been known for their offense led by head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the production put out by the defense has been a big reason of their success. Getting back to one of the top units in the NFL will certainly put the Chiefs back in a championship contender spotlight.
