Everton have been putting together a list of striker targets in recent months, as it has become clear that Thierno Barry and Beto need more help.

There have been reports claiming that Everton manager David Moyes is ‘fixated’ on bringing in a new forward during the January transfer window.

Ivan Toney, who used to play for Brentford, has been mentioned as a potential signing, but that deal looks far from straightforward.

Richarlison has also been linked with a move back to Merseyside, though any deal would likely be limited to just a loan.

Now there is a new name emerging, another former Premier League player currently plying his trade abroad.

And Italian midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini believes he possesses the ability to develop into ‘one of the best strikers in the world.’

Everton are showing interest in Tammy Abraham, who is also on the radar of five other Premier League clubs this month.

The striker is currently with Besiktas in Turkey and has had a solid season so far, scoring 12 goals.

Fans on Merseyside have mixed feelings about the potential move, but there is no question he has the talent to make an impact.

Pellegrini, who played alongside Abraham at AS Roma, was always impressed by his ability. The midfielder once said that the Englishman could become one of the top strikers in the world.

The Italian star shared his views with FourFourTwo back in December 2022: “I’ve always said that with the right application, work, commitment and mentality, he can become one of the best strikers in the world.”

He added: “Tammy has incredible potential. Last season he produced impressive numbers.”

David Moyes was once eyeing Tammy Abraham while at West Ham United

Back in 2021, when Moyes was managing West Ham United, he was interested in bringing Abraham on board.

However, the Scotsman felt that the £40m asking price at the time was beyond their reach: “It would rule us out completely. We will be ruled out.

“So if that’s the figure and that’s what’s being said, we are ruled out. We don’t have that money, we don’t have that to buy a striker at that price, no.

“Is that sort of figure our total spend? It may well be. But you never know here. I don’t think we will be making a purchase of that for any one player. I’d be surprised if we were.”

Given that Abraham’s current valuation is undoubtedly much lower, there is certainly potential for this deal.
