The race to sign AS Saint-Étienne forward Zuriko Davitashvili (24) is heating up, with Greek side Olympiacos seeing a bid rejected, as per a report from Sacha Tavolieri.
Davitashvili was a rare bright spark for Saint-Étienne last season, as the club were relegated back to Ligue 2. But the club’s newfound wealth allowed them to retain the highly coveted Georgia international during the offseason.
The decision to keep the player has paid off; in 17 games, he already has nine goals and one assist. However, a departure this month is now a possibility. A verbal offer has been submitted by Olympiacos and is worth €10.5m plus an extra €3m in bonuses.
This offer does not yet meet ASSE’s evaluation of the player. The Greek club, however, are not the only club in the race. Premier League side Everton are also interested in Davitashvili, whose contract with Les Verts runs until 2028.
