No. 22 Florida State men’s tennis swept Troy and Mercer in a season-opening double header:

The Seminoles claimed an early lead over Troy after a pair of doubles wins. No. 43 Luis Felipe Miguel and Erik Schiessl paired together in doubles and were first off the court with a 6-1 win over Steph Tavares Noale and Ausias Martin Melo. The No. 82 doubles pair of Azariah Rusher and Mohommad Alkotop teamed up to collect their first victory together this season with a 6-3 win over Yeray Andres Pastor and Henrique de Brito on court three. Justin Lyons and Jan Sebesta battled on court two before losing their match to Thiago Drozdowski and Luciano Alcocer, 3-6.

In singles play, Florida State continued the momentum as No. 69 Felipe Miguel claimed his first spring singles win as a Seminole, besting Luciano Alcocer 6-3, 6-0 on court one. Newcomer Alkotop earned his second victory of the day after defeating Louis Boilevin 6-3, 6-1. The match clincher came on court six with another rookie, Oren Ezerzer, taking down Drozdowski 6-3, 6-2.

Florida State struck first in doubles play as Lyons and Sebesta took down Howell Burns and Esteban Gasser with a 6-3 win on court two. The Seminoles took the decision on court three with Rusher and Alkotop to clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 victory against Alex Aldaz and Prince Gandonou.

Alkotop would pick up a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gandonou to begin singles play. Rusher earned his second singles win of the day with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Aldaz to give FSU a 3-0 lead. Miguel downed Isak Padio 6-2, 7-6 (7) on court one, before Sebesta held off Gasser 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 on court six. Florida State answered again, this time on court five, with Lyons taking the victory over Shingo Masuda in a three-set battle. Corey Craig ended the nightcap with a three-set victory against Nemanja Stefanovic 6-4, 2-6, 6-6.

Florida State men’s golfer Tyler Weaver finished tied for fourth place at the 22nd Jones Cup Invitational on Sunday:

Due to a near five-hour delay in the first round on Friday due to heavy fog, the tournament was shortened to 36 holes. After completing seven holes on Friday, Weaver finished his first round even, 72 and tied for 18th place on Saturday.

Weaver made a push towards the leaders after a bogey-free front nine, making birdie on sixth hole. Weaver added birdies on the 10th and 15th, finishing the day shooting 2-under 70. He tied for fourth place at 2-under, 142.

Jack Bigham was also in the field and finished tied for 57th place at 9-over, 153 after carding 2-over, 74 on Sunday.

 No. 12/NR Florida State swimming and diving fell to No. 7/18 Georgia and Arkansas:

In the team’s second competition in five days to begin 2026, the Seminoles posted seven wins, including one relay. Sophomore Michel Arkhangelsky led the way with two individual victories. Sophomore Alice Velden also won two events, one individual and one relay.

The FSU men were bested by No. 7 Georgia 183.5-114.5, while the women lost to the 18th-ranked Bulldogs 170-116 and to Arkansas 195-101.

Arkhangelsky’s first win came in the 50 freestyle, touching the wall in 19.64, before he took first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 42.92. Arkhangelsky also added a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly (46.72).

Florida State opened the competition with a win in the women’s 200 medley relay, as the team of Velden, freshman Martina Fanunza and sophomores Maryn McDade and Mary Leigh Hardman combined for a first-place finish in 1:37.72. The men’s team of seniors Maz Wilson and Tommaso Baravelli, Arkhangelsky and senior Sam Bork finished second in 1:24.60.

Velden recorded an individual win in the 100 backstroke, winning in 53.76. McDade took second in the 50 freestyle in 22.23.

In the 100 breaststroke, Baravelli (53.63) and freshman Liam O’Connor (54.26) finished first and second while sophomore Mathias Christensen added a Seminole win in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:57.15.

Sophomore diver Hayden Schroeder led the team on springboard with a win on 1-meter thanks to a score of 335.25. Redshirt senior Kayleigh Clark (319.95) and sophomore Carlos Vargas (347.20) both were second on 3-meter, with Vargas recording a personal-best.
