One former Chelsea star says that the club currently “need seasoned winners in the side” and has angled them towards PSG.

This is something that many former Chelsea players, pundits, fans, and other former players have been saying for the past few years at Chelsea since the new owners came in and put an emphasis on somewhat of a youth-only recruitment policy.

The big criticism has been that this has always been a plan for the future, but it often does not help the here and now, which fans have also pointed out is just as important.

Chelsea don’t seem to sign ready made elite players now, they are always just signing talents who may or may not end up becoming good and come in as raw players. It has meant that the squad overall has lacked experienced leadership and established players, something that I do agree with has been an issue.

“I would have gone down the road of going really big for Virgil van Dijk when he was coming to the end of his contract at Liverpool last summer.

“You need seasoned winners in the side. I’d be looking at the PSG squad, which I think is bloated. Players who understand winning and know how and what it means to win.

“I don’t think Arsenal are going to be able to keep up with all their players, certain players there will be available at the end of the season.

“Unfortunately, none of the top, top players are going to be coming to Chelsea, because if they’re available, then the Man Citys, the Arsenals and the Liverpools will come calling and they will go there first. So Chelsea are still in their rebuilding phase.”
