Former Richmond defensive end Donovan Hoilette has committed to North Carolina, where he will spend his final year of eligibility with the Tar Heels.
Standing 6-foot-4 and weighing 245 pounds, the West Palm Beach, Florida, native spent the past five years in the Spiders program. He redshirted his first year while appearing in four games, saw action in nine games as a redshirt freshman and played in all 13 contests in 2023. After opening his college career at linebacker, he shifted to defensive end ahead of the 2024 season.
He appeared in two games that year before a season-ending injury. This past fall, Hoilette started every game of a 12-game schedule and claimed first-team All-Patriot League recognition. He totaled 48 tackles, 13 of them for loss. He also recorded 27 quarterback hurries, eight quarterback hits and 22 stops — plays that ended in failed outcomes for the opposing offense.
Hoilette logged 38 snaps for the Spiders in a September loss at North Carolina. He is set to reunite with another Tar Heels transfer addition, linebacker Peyton Seelmann.
