Missouri football adds freshman WR from Florida in transfer portal

Missouri football has added Florida freshman transfer wide receiver Naeshaun Montgomery, taking the Tigers to 12 transfer portal commitments.

The Tigers are up to a dozen additions this week.

Florida freshman wide receiver transfer Naeshaun Montgomery posted to his Instagram account that he committed to Missouri football on Saturday. He is now the third wideout to commit to the Tigers out of the transfer portal in this window, and the 12th player in total to make the move to Columbia.

Montgomery was a four-star prospect in the Class of 2025 out of Miami Central in Miami, Florida.

He was rated as the No. 170-overall player in his recruiting class and as the No. 23-ranked wide receiver in 247Sports’ composite rankings. He had offers from Alabama, Penn State and others out of high school.

He appeared in four games for Florida last season, meaning he held on to a redshirt and still has four years of eligibility remaining. Over those games, he caught three passes on three targets for 26 yards. Three of the wide receiver's games were in SEC contests.

Montgomery is listed at 6 foot 1, 189 pounds. He played a bulk of his snaps for Florida lined up in the slot, per Pro Football Focus.

Mizzou has also added Auburn transfer Horatio Fields and Cincinnati speedster Caleb Goodie in this portal window at wide receiver. All three of the Tigers’ commitments at WR are expected to be outside receivers, meaning Missouri may still be on the hunt for a player to line up in the slot.

Missouri needed to be active chasing wide receivers in this portal window.

Four of the Tigers’ top-five pass-catchers from this past season are leaving.

Kevin Coleman Jr. and Xavier Loyd are out of eligibility, while Joshua Manning and Marquis Johnson have transferred to Kansas State and Mississippi State, respectively. Mizzou is also losing reserves James Madison II to the portal and Logan Muckey to eligibility.

Mizzou is returning its three freshmen from the Class of 2025, including rookie standout Donovan Olugbode. The Tigers will also bring back Shaun Terry II and Damarion Fowlkes to the roster next season, per posts to the team’s official X account.
