Aston Villa are plotting a move to sign Tammy Abraham in the winter transfer window as they look to bolster their squad for the second half of the season.
According to The Telegraph, Abraham is on Villa’s radar, with the club keen to bring in competition for Ollie Watkins up top.
Abraham is currently shining for Besiktas in the Super Lig, bagging 12 goals and three assists in 24 appearances this season.
Those numbers have caught the eye of Villa’s sporting leadership, and they plan to bring the 28-year-old back to England.
He knows the Premier League and Villa well, having impressed for the Birmingham-based club in his short stint at the club in 2018/19.
Abraham had registered 26 goals and three assists in 42 appearances for the Villains during that memorable loan campaign.
Since then, he has bounced around European leagues, but the former Chelsea star can still deliver the goods for Unai Emery.
Watkins has struggled to find his scoring boot this season, managing just seven goals in 29 appearances.
The Villans want more firepower up top and have turned to Abraham to provide the quality they need.
However, landing the striker could be complicated. He is currently on a loan deal that becomes permanent if certain conditions are met.
He is also reportedly on a £115,000-per-week contract, which could prove a problem for the Villans.
Still, the club should be doing everything to land Abraham. He knows how to hit the back of the net and would give the club a different type of threat going forward.
The 6ft4ins centre-forward can also play together with Watkins when they are chasing results. His link-up play is impressive.
Abraham is just the kind of ready-made addition that can inspire the club as they bid to keep pace with Arsenal at the top of the league table and thrive in other competitions.
