A winter departure has not yet been ruled out.
Girona are being linked with a move to bring in Barcelona midfielder Marc Bernal on loan during the January transfer window.
According to Sport, Barcelona would let Bernal leave on a temporary basis if a “good sporting proposal” arrives for the 18-year-old.
Hansi Flick is a big fan of the midfielder and wants him to stay, but it seems the imminent arrival of Joao Cancelo has changed things somewhat and Bernal could be allowed to leave in search of more regular minutes.
Cancelo’s arrival means that Eric Garcia may feature more often in midfield which could see Bernal continue to struggle for game time.
Beral has only made 10 appearances in all competitions so far this season, although it had been thought he would have more prominence in the second half of the campaign.
Sport say that Barcelona have already received a few offers for Bernal, with Girona said to be pushing hard for his signature.
Bernal is expected to feature for Barcelona next week in the Copa del Rey against Racing, but a decision on his future could be made after that game.
