Former James Madison linebacker Immanuel Ezeogu has committed to becoming a Colorado Buffalo, announced via his social media on Monday afternoon.

Ezeogu comes to Boulder after spending two seasons with the Dukes. After redshirting in 2024, Ezeogu was a key role player on a JMU defense that won the Sun Belt Conference and made the College Football Playoffs in 2025. This season, Ezeogu played in all 14 of JMU’s games, tallying 15 total tackles (eight solo), four TFLs, one sack, one forced fumble and a pass breakup.

For one reason or another, Ezeogu made the choice not to follow James Madison head coach Bob Chesney to UCLA, but their loss is our gain. Ezeogu plays with an undeniable passion and gives his all in every rep, which is something that the Colorado defense badly needs after a dismal 2025 season.

Ezeogu marks CU’s 11th land in the transfer portal, all of which have come from the FCS or Group of Five level. Unlike the prior three seasons, Colorado seems to be avoiding bringing in depth pieces at Big Ten or SEC schools. There’s been a clear shift in Deion Sanders’ recruiting strategy, and we’ll have to wait to see if that pans out.

Welcome to Boulder, Manny!
