AmaZulu FC have announced the appointment of Kurt Lentjies as the club's new Dstv Diski Challenge (DDC) head coach.

The 40-year-old mentor succeeds Mncedisi Sibiya, who was recently relieved of his duties along with Youth Technical Director Celokuhle Mbanjwa, among others.

Lentjies brings a wealth of experience, having previously been in charge of Chippa United's first-team in two separate spells during the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons, respectively.

He will be assisted by former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabo Mngomeni, whom he worked with at Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League outfit FC Ravens last year.

Mngomeni, who amassed 36 Bafana Bafana caps with six goals during his heyday, was part of the South African under-17, Amajimbos, technical team during the FIFA World Cup in Qatar last year.

The pair has been tasked with staging a respectable finish in the reserve league as Usuthu continue to search for a first DDC title since the 2020/21 campaign.

AmaZulu currently sit seventh with 17 points from 12 league outings and will return to action with a clash against log leaders Pirates on Sunday.
