A super sweet 14th win on the season for the Seahawks.
The Seattle Seahawks are NFC West champions after a superb defensive display against the San Francisco 49ers, holding them to just a field goal and 173 yards of total offense in their own building. For the Seahawks, the hope is that it’s the first of two trips to Santa Clara, with the second coming in February for the Super Bowl.
Seahawks have won 14 regular season games for first time ever
Secondarily to winning the NFC West and thus the number one seed, the Seahawks clinched their greatest win total in franchise history—fittingly, in the special 50th season.
Yes, the Seahawks got to play a 17th game, unlike the 2005 and 2013 squads that finished with 13 wins, but 14 wins is still hard to pull off whether it’s a 16-game, 17-game, or an eventual 18-game regular season. It’s also the second year in a row that Sam Darnold has started on a 14-3 team, only this time he has the top seed and first-round bye instead of playing a Wild Card game.
Seahawks also continue road dominance
Seattle also improved to 15-2 on the road under Mike Macdonald, which is the greatest stretch of away success for a head coach in his first two seasons since George Seifert took over Bill Walsh’s San Francisco 49ers and went a perfect 16-0. The eight road victories in a season is another franchise record.
Thanks to this win, the Seahawks are done playing on the road for the 2025 season.
The job ain’t done yet, of course. It’s time to rest up, gear up for the NFC Divisional Round, and win two home games to reach the Super Bowl.
