Armed Forces Bowl

Rice Owls (5-7) vs. Texas State Bobcats (6-6)
12pm | ESPN | TXSt -18.5 | O/U 55.5 | at Amon G. Carter Stadium (Fort Worth, TX)

The first of two 5-7 teams to play today, as bowl season wheezes to a close.

You might be forgiven for thinking this was an AAC matchup, but only Rice hangs out as dead weight at the bottom of the American with Tulsa, Charlotte, FAU, Temple, and Temporarily Embarrassed UTSA—the Bobcats are soon-to-be former members of the Sun Belt, off to the NuPac-9 for 2026.

Rice runs a modified triple option spread under second-year HC Scott Abell—there’s no such thing as run-pass balance, as the Owls ran it at nearly a 3:1 ratio in 2025 behind RB Quinton Jackson and QB Chase Jenkins. Two Owls have double-digit receptions…on the year….and one of those receivers is in the portal, as is Jenkins.

Texas State minimized its opt-outs and G.J. Kinne has a fun, run-and-gun offense that could put on a show for what should be a partisan crowd in Fort Worth after winning its last three games to get to bowl eligibility. Starting QB Brad Jackson—a freshman with a disgusting mustache—put up over 3000 yards passing while completing 71% of his passes.

The Bobcats have a bottom-third rush defense, but the Owls’ opt-outs put them at a marked disadvantage.

Liberty Bowl

Navy Midshipmen (10-2) vs. Cincinnati Bearcats (7-5)
3:30pm | ESPN | Navy -7.5 | O/U 55.5 | at Liberty Bowl (Memphis, TN)

This…is a bowl game!

Navy is Navy. They will do Navy things. Enjoy.

Cincinnati, on the other hand, will be without…

  • All three starting safeties
  • A starting cornerback
  • A starting defensive end
  • A cornerback with 13 PBUs, and
  • Quarterback Brendan Sorsby, who’s in the transfer portal.

So! Will Cincinnati have anyone around to stop dynamic Middie QB and fantasy football god Blake Horvath?

Holiday Bowl

#17 Arizona Wildcats (9-3) vs. SMU Cocaineponies (8-4)
7pm | FOX | SMU -1.5 | O/U 51.5 | at Snapdragon Stadium (San Diego, CA)

GAME OF THE DAY!

Limited opt-outs in this one—assuming Arizona’s not withholding too much, as Brent Brennan has said he’ll do—means we should get a matchup of dynamic QBs: Arizona’s Noah Fifita and SMU’s Kevin Jennings. The Cocaineponies roll about five options deep at pass-catcher, including a pair of talented tight ends, while Arizona will look first to diminutive speedster Kris Hutson and offers the balance of running behind RB Ismail Mahdi or the alternative of “I dunno, just go do fun shit, Noah.”

Two offenses that can score. A non-ESPN bowl game. Let’s get weird.

Duke’s Mayo Bowl

Wake Forest Demon Deacons (8-4) vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs (5-7)
7pm | ESPN | MSSt -3 | O/U 53.5 | at wherever the Carolina Panthers play

ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
