DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN)—The Dothan Wolves will be striding into the new year with a lot to celebrate, after capturing their 4th consecutive Downtown Dothan Hoops Classic title, defeating the Eufaula Tigers in a 70-50 curb stomping.
This was the first time since 2021 that the Tigers participated in the tournament, and for Dothan, this championship matchup was personal after Eufaula took down the Wolves to claim the top spot back in ’21.
From the opening tip-off, both teams were able to trade buckets with each other as Dothan was able to get easy points in transition. At the same time, Eufaula made its impact with an unselfish half-court offense, creating some open looks on the perimeter.
Going into halftime, Dothan would find themselves up in a close one, leading 31-25.
But in the second half, Dothan would stomp on the gas pedal and not look back.
Senior guard Diggy Coleman was a menace on both sides of the ball, finishing with 11 points, a game-high one block, and two steals, while sophomore guard Jordan Rollins was money all day long, finishing with a team-high 14 points.
At the sound of the final buzzer, it would be the Wolves sitting alone at the mountaintop, and with this victory, they break the second-place tie with Eufaula for the most titles in tournament history.
