How to watch: Tennessee vs. Illinois in the Music City Bowl

Everything you need to know.

Tennessee will wrap up the 2025 season in Nashville this evening, set for a matchup with Illinois in the Music City Bowl. Nissan Stadium, a place Tennessee knows well, will play host.

The Volunteers are playing in their 57th bowl/postseason game. They have a 30-26 record in those matchups all time. Today will serve as the first ever football matchup between Tennessee and Illinois.

Tennessee is 1-2 all time in the Music City Bowl, beating Nebraska back in 2016. They dropped games to Purdue (2021) and North Carolina (2010) after controversial calls in both ultimately doomed the Volunteers. Josh Heupel is 2-2 in postseason matchups during his time at Tennessee (wins against Iowa and Clemson, losses to Purdue and Ohio State).

Heupel will operate with several new faces in this one after a handful of key opt outs. The quarterbacks remain in place, however, and we could see a shootout between seniors Joey Aguilar and Luke Altmyer.
