Tennessee Volunteers football facing another Nico Iamaleava situation with Boo Carter

This doesn't sound good.

Just the headline from the Knoxville News Sentinel is enough to make Tennessee football fans quiver:

"Boo Carter skips Tennessee football activities. Is it a Nico Iamaleava situation for Vols?"

The Volunteers lost their starting quarterback to UCLA this offseason when Iamaleava escalated an NIL dispute quickly and left town.

Now, Carter's "status with the Vols is uncertain."

"Knox News has learned that Carter missed numerous team activities, and he was confronted by team leaders because of his absence," writes Adam Sparks.

Carter is a talented defensive back and punt returner, and he might be adding wide receiver to his skillset, if he returns to the field.

There's still time to save the situation, Sparks writes:

"The memory of that escalation should concern UT fans as Carter remains in limbo. The Vols need him to mend strained relationships with teammates and show up to team activities. If not, Carter’s days with the Vols are numbered. But if he can buy in, UT can weather this storm and enjoy the benefits of Carter’s talent."

The last thing Tennessee wants is a repeat of the Iamaleava saga. The Vols will certainly be hoping that Carter shows up soon and gets to work.
