The Dallas Cowboys are once again in a contract standoff with one of their star players. Micah Parsons finds himself in the same situation that Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb have in the past.
Jones recently made some comments to reporters about how, just cause the team signs Parsons, does not mean he will play, noting his injury from last year. He also mentioned Prescott's injury after he signed his deal. There is little reason to believe a deal won't be struck, as the Cowboys have shown they can get the job done in the past.
Parsons also spoke to the media about the contract. Parsons is not holding out, but is not participating fully, citing back tightness. He noted that there is not much movement on the contract front and noted that the Cowboys may have their own timeline in mind.
"I think they got their own timeline on when they want to get things done," Parsons said of Jones and his son, executive vice president of personnel Stephen Jones, per NFL.com. "At any given time they can get things done, so I don't think that helps. I just think I'm doing this for myself and my teammates."
"If they don't want me here, they don't want me here," Parsons continued. "I go about my business. I understand the nature of the business. Like I said, as long as I'm here and under contract, I'm going to do what I have to do to perform at the highest level. But if this is the end, this is the end, you know? The same way that Jones, Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones and the other Jerry Jones take care of their family, that's the same way I need to take care of my own family."

The back and forth in the media does not favor Parsons, according to Lamb. Jones has gotten these deals done in the past, so anything Parsons says is not going to do him any good.
"For Micah, man, he knows I love him and being in this situation, obviously playing this media game with Jerry is not the best. It’s not fun. It’s not recommended. … And he should get what he deserves and I’m not indulging in any of the craziness they got going, but I do want Micah to get paid soon," Lamb told ESPN's Todd Archer.
Lamb made it clear that Jones has a tendency to play the media. He also has a tendency to wait until the last moment to get this type of deal done. His actions draw attention to him, and maybe that's exactly what he wants, which is what Lamb means when he advises Parsons to shy away from a media battle with Jones.
