Bears' D'Andre Swift calls rookie teammate a "great addition" to running back room

Chicago Bears veteran running back D'Andre Swift praised rookie teammate Kyle Monangai who was a seventh-round pick in this year's draft.

While there was a high belief that the Chicago Bears would add a big name running back to their team this offseason, and instead they chose to stand pat until adding Kyle Monangai in the seventh round of this year's draft. Monangai comes to Chicago with an accomplished collegiate resume, having twice led the Big 10 Conference in rushing while playing for Rutgers University, and was named to First-team All-Big Ten in 2024, and Second-team All-Big Ten in 2023.

As the Bears began training camp this week, Swift was asked about his new rookie teammate and paid Monangai plenty of praise, labeling him a "great addition" to the running back room.

Monangai will join Roschon Johnson as the top backups behind Swift, and the three of them will work with position coach Eric Bieniemy, who was hired this offseason to join Ben Johnson's staff. There might not have been the big splash that many expected for Chicago's backfield, but there seems to be camaraderie between those that are on the depth chart as training camp begins.
