The MLB trade deadline is just over a week away, and with teams around the league eyeing one last chance to significantly bolster their rosters before a playoff push, several names have emerged in trade rumors.

One of the most talked-about names has consistently been Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suarez, who has been phenomenal all season—but red-hot over the team’s most recent stretch.

That recent surge could mean a few things. The Diamondbacks might opt to keep Suarez and potentially re-sign him, as he’s on an expiring contract. Or, they could look to trade him while his value is at a peak—especially at age 34.

Ahead of the July 31 deadline, the Diamondbacks and MLB jointly announced Monday that Suarez has been named the National League Player of the Week.

From Friday to Sunday, Suarez hit .500 with four home runs and a staggering 2.283 OPS. On the season, he now has 35 homers—third in the majors—and leads all of MLB with 85 RBIs.

"We are watching a master at work," Diamondbacks wrote.

With speculation swirling around his future, fans had a unified reaction to the news.

"Then don’t trade the master! Resign him," a fan said.

Someone else added, "Don't trade Geno!"

Another person wrote, "And will NOT be trading him, thank you very much!"

"Do. Not. Trade. Him," one more fan commented.

The Diamondbacks find themselves in a difficult position as they evaluate how to approach the second half of the season—a decision that could ultimately shape what they choose to do with Eugenio Suarez.

Arizona is riding a four-game win streak but sits at 50-50 overall and fourth in the NL West. Still, they remain just 4 1/2 games back of a Wild Card spot, trailing the St. Louis Cardinals, San Francisco Giants, Cincinnati Reds, and the San Diego Padres for the final playoff spot.
