Tennessee fans should be prepared for another cold postseason experience this week

For Tennessee fans making the trip to Nashville for the Vols’ Music City Bowl clash with Illinois, well, bundle up, buttercup. It’s gonna be very, very cold.

For those who have already packed and hit the road, hopefully you checked the weather forecast first and packed your heavy coat, toboggans, gloves, a scarf, and everything else you need to deal with the cold elements. For those who haven’t yet, you’ve been warned.

Temperatures for Tuesday in Nashville call for a high of 34 degrees and a low dropping down to around 21. With kickoff taking place at 5:30 pm ET, it’ll be close to sundown when toe meets leather at Nissan Stadium. That means the temperature will be dropping and should be at freezing on or around kickoff.

I imagine there will be a number of Tennessee fans attending who went up to Ohio State last year for the College Football Playoff clash with the Buckeyes. Temperatures were around 25 degrees at kickoff then and dipped even lower after the evening kickoff. It was one of the coldest games in recent program history. This won’t quite reach that, but it’s cold enough to dig your heaviest coat out of the closet.

QB Joey Aguilar talked this week about the cold and how it won’t bother him, having practiced in even colder temperatures during his time at Appalachian State.

“Yeah, I don’t mind. It’s fun. At App State, last couple games, we’re practicing in fifteen, ten-degree weather out there in the snow and we’re trying to be tough out there with no long sleeves on, nothing on. Freezing. But as you get going, everybody out there enjoying it. So, I don’t think it’s too big of an aspect to worry about personally just because I’ve been in that type of weather already. But it’ll be a fun game to go play.”

So, again, for those reading this who haven’t packed yet or thought about attire for the game, dress warmly.
