As the business end of the season approaches, the Austrian wants FC Bayern to show up big.
The Bayern Munich right-back and midfield workhorse Konrad Laimer wants to leave nothing on the table as the team approach the second half of the season with a lot of confidence. Under Vincent Kompany, Bayern have dominated the Hinrunde. The team have set themselves up with a nine point lead in the Bundesliga, at second place in the Champions League and are also through to the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal.
Everything is possible
In an interview with Austrian Radio and television network ORF (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Laimer outlined the goals for the team. “Everything is always possible at FC Bayern, and of course you have that certain hunger, that certain attitude that you simply want to win everything,” said Laimer.
Have to show up big
The Champions League and the DFB Pokal have been very elusive since Bayern won the sextuple half a decade ago. Despite having strong squads and putting up good performances, the Bavarians have fumbled big games. With that said, making the right improvements to seize the game changing moments will be crucial in knockout tournaments where little mistakes can easily turn into multiple goals and end a good run. Finishing under pressure, set-pieces, headers, penalties are all areas where Bayern can edge out annoying oppositions.
Having gone down to Arsenal in a rather embarrassing fashion, Bayern need address some key areas and bring their A game against the best of the best. “But there’s always room for improvement for us too; it’s our strength that we always want to work on ourselves. When decisive matches come around in spring, we have to be the better team on the day” said Laimer as the team have been turning intent into domination under Vincent Kompany in the first half. Now, the second half, the Rückrunde awaits.
