DeSean Jackson landed on the Los Angeles Rams' 2021 roster before the franchise went on their Super Bowl run. Jackson eventually earned a Super Bowl ring from the team.
Except the L.A. native never wears the only NFL championship bling he's gained. He shared to Keyshawn Johnson in the "All Facts No Brakes" podcast why that is.
"It's a bittersweet situation," Jackson began.
Then he dove into the real reason why he never places the ring on any of his fingers.
"I ain't even play in the game," Jackson reminded.
That's because "D-Jax" never truly finished out the '21 season with the Rams. He got shopped as a trade asset midseason. The Rams never found a trade suitor and Jackson eventually got released. He finished out that season with the Las Vegas Raiders.
But the Rams still handed him championship hardware because he joined the active roster at the beginning of the season. Jackson wasn't much of a factor in the offense -- catching only eight passes for 221 yards and scoring one touchdown.
The L.A. move originally reunited him with Sean McVay. The two worked together while with Washington. Jackson played there from 2014 to 2016 -- during a time McVay ran the offense.
"It was a perfect time to come home," Jackson said in reflecting back. "L.A. didn't have a team when I was coming up. Me coming back to L.A., I was mature and felt I could handle it."
He even admitted how he lucked out that his career started with the Philadelphia Eagles at the age Jackson was.
"If the young D-Jax got drafted to an L.A. team, it would've been bad. I would've thrown all my money away in the club, trippin' and having homies everywhere."
Still, Jackson admitted he wanted the same opportunities Cooper Kupp was getting. The same Kupp who led the league in all three major receiving categories and took home Super Bowl LVI Most Valuable Player honors.
The perennial Pro Bowler played his final NFL season with the Baltimore Ravens in 2022. He since dove into coaching. The Long Beach Poly legend returned to the city to handle offensive coordinator duties with Woodrow Wilson High.
But now he's transitioning to a new chapter: Head coach of Delaware State. Coach Jackson makes his debut with the college head set this fall.
