‘He’s just sleep fighting these days’: Luke Rockhold reacts to Tyron Woodley’s knockout loss to Anderson Silva

Former UFC champ Luke Rockhold didn’t think it would go very well for Tyron Woodley in the boxing ring against Anderson Silva this past Friday, and he was right.

The former welterweight champion competed for the first time since getting brutally knocked out by Jake Paul in their rematch in December 2021, taking the fight against Silva on short notice after an injury scratched Chris Weidman from the Paul vs. Joshua boxing event. Silva finished Woodley in the second round after the latter’s corner wisely called it off after Silva had Woodley badly hurt after a combination.

Rockhold was asked about Woodley’s performance, and although he’s friends with his fellow former UFC champ, Rockhold gave an honest assessment.

“That was what I thought it would be,” Rockhold told Submission Radio. “Tyron’s not there to fight anymore. He’s not really conscious in fighting. Tyron’s still my boy but he’s just sleep fighting these days, you know what I mean?

“You have to be able to consciously see punches and throw punches, and he’s just not there in live anymore.”

Woodley has now lost seven straight combat sports bouts. The most recent victory for “The Chosen One” took place while he was UFC champ, stopping Darren Till at UFC 228 in September 2018.
