HLN are reporting that Gent are closing in on only their second signing of the summer. Head coach Ivan Leko has been calling for the club to sign more players, and it appears his request has been granted. The side are set to complete a deal for PSV goalkeeper Kjell Peersman. The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at the Challenger Pro League side Lierse. Peersman had been attracting interest from other sides, but it appears that the Buffaloes have won the race to his signature, having shown interest in the PSV man back in May.
Peersman will join an experienced goalkeeping core at Gent. Davy Roef, who has been sidelined with injury in recent seasons, is considered the sides best choice between the sticks. Last year, after Roef was ruled out for the season, the club signed Kortrijk goalkeeper Tom Vandenberghe. It is likely that Peersman will be competing with Vandenberghe for the back-up spot. Last year, Peersman played 26 games in the Belgian second tier for Lierse. The young Belgian looks set to leave PSV without having made an appearance in the Eredivisie, however he was a regular for Jong PSV during his time in the Netherlands.
