Chiefs' Head Coach/QB 'Power' Enough For Super Bowl Credentials

The Kansas City Chiefs will be Super Bowl contenders in 2025.

All offseason, we've heard about how the Kansas City Chiefs' dynasty is coming to an abrupt end, even though it was just one game of football ago that Andy Reid's team was being talked about as one of the greatest ever.

Now, the Chiefs will have to fight off the narrative they are slowing down, while also proving their Super Bowl credentials as well, again, something we find odd.

But still, while many are predicting the Chiefs' downfall in 2025, as Sports Illustrated's Conor Orr points out, the current AFC champs still possess arguably the best head coach/quarterback duo in football.

And when you have that, you have a genuine Super Bowl chance.

“Look, the Chiefs are never not going to be on this list, and I think we’ve learned enough about the power of a quarterback-coach mind meld like Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes to know that even the most underwhelming iteration of a roster around them can still be capable of winning the Super Bowl,” Orr writes.

“While I personally predicted a little bit of a Patriots-style gap between Super Bowls for Kansas City as it builds up an offensive line and turns over its defense, there is a case to be made that Rashee Rice was cresting elite territory before his injury last year, which would make a tremendous difference in the Chiefs’ outlook should his progress continue.”

So, we are going to pump the brakes on this dynasty failing, at least until we see tangible evidence that it is happening.

For that to happen, the Chiefs would have to be consistently beaten in the division title race and in the playoffs, something that hasn't happened in the Mahomes era. Yes, there have been losses, but not consistent ones.

Make no mistake about it, the Chiefs are still the top dog in the AFC until further notice due to their skins on the wall.

Oh, and having the duo of Reid and Patrick Mahomes, too.
