Pape Thiaw expressed his satisfaction following Senegal's victory. The head coach of the Lions of Teranga congratulated his players after the comprehensive 3-0 win over Botswana on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at the Grand Stade de Tanger.

The manager commended the focus and tactical discipline shown by his side during this CAN 2025 opening match. Senegal dominated Botswana 3-0 in Tangier on Tuesday in the first Group D game of CAN 2025, thanks to a brace from Nicolas Jackson and a goal by Chérif Ndiaye.

"What I take away from this match is the seriousness of the team. The players followed the instructions and got the job done. The first match of this competition was crucial, and it was essential to start well. These boys wanted this win and fought hard to get it, credit to them. We faced a very strong team, with a low and compact block. We could have scored more, but above all, what stands out is my team's commitment and discipline," he said.
