Most of the Syracuse football transfer news so far this offseason has involved little-used players hitting the portal.

On Tuesday, though, the Orange took a big hit.

Yasin Willis is transferring.

Willis is a star RB. He announced his decision on social media, and he'll have two years of eligibility to use elsewhere.

In 2025, Willis ran for 558 yards on 129 carries.

He's a powerful RB with sneaky speed and athleticism, too, as shown by his hurdle in the photograph at the top of this article.

The toughest part for SU fans is that Willis had actually told Syracuse.com late in the season that he planned to return for 2026, so this is a changing of his mind.

Willis will be a strong pickup for someone else, but it's a tough loss for Syracuse, which goes from knowing who its starting RB will be in 2026 to having to figure it out.

The Orange could have Will Nixon back. He applied for a medical hardship waiver for a seventh year of eligibility, but no decision has been made.

For now, the Orange just now that they will be losing Willis after previously thinking they'd keep him.
