Linebacker Alex Anzalone's health situation was given an update by head coach Dan Campbell as team activities continued and both rookies and veterans began to settle in with Detroit's first preseason game against the San Diego Chargers now just 10 days away.
"Lions coach) Dan Campbell said he doesn't expect (linebacker) Alex Anzalone to practice today, as he's dealing with a hamstring," Detroit reporter Jennifer Hammond wrote on her X account Monday.
The Lions linebacker had 43 solo tackles and a sack last season while playing through injuries late in the season.
Anzalone reportedly "crushed" the Lions' conditioning test recently but has not practiced due to the injury. He is in the final year of his current contract with the team on a deal with $6 million left on it and $100,000 total in per-game roster bonuses this fall.
A four-time team captain, Anzaone turns 31 in September.
