100 LPGA players averaged under par in 2025 — nearly doubling in a decade

Twenty years ago, only 26 players broke par for the season.

Without a doubt, the most impressive part of Jeeno Thitikul's 2025 season was her 68.681 scoring average. The mark broke a record set by Annika Sorenstam that dates back to 2002 – before Thitikul was even born.

"For it to take until 2025, I mean, it's crazy," said Nelly Korda. "That just tells you that the greats don't come along too often."

Thitikul first won the Vare Trophy for low scoring in 2023 (69.53) and had the lowest scoring average in 2024 as well, but didn't meet the minimum number of required rounds, so the trophy went to Japan's Ayaka Furue.

Inbee Park of South Korea poses with the Vare trophy during the final round of the CME Group Tour Championship at Tiburon Golf Club on November 22, 2015 in Naples, Florida.

Thitikul was the only player who averaged under 69 but nine players averaged under 70 for the season and 48 players were under 71.

To put those numbers in perspective, consider that a decade ago, only 16 players averaged under 71. And in 2005, only three players were under the 71: Annika Sorenstam (69.33), Cristie Kerr (70.86), and Paula Creamer (70.98).

Global competition has undoubtedly pushed the depth of the LPGA to new levels. A total of 100 players averaged under par in 2025, nearly twice the number 10 years ago (56) and nearly quadruple the number 20 years ago (26).

On the PGA Tour, Scottie Scheffler averaged 67.99 to lead the Tour in 2025, while 162 players averaged under 71.
