Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman is being suspended 2 games after repeated violations of player safety protocols.
On Monday morning, the NFL announced that Chargers linebacker Denzel Perryman is being suspended without pay for two games for “repeated violations of playing rules intended to protect the health and safety of players.”
Perryman was flagged for his hit against Cowboys wide receiver Ryan Flournoy when the latter was laying on the ground after making a catch. Instead of simply touching Flournoy down, Perryman dove seemingly head-first towards the wideout which ended in their helmets colliding. Flournoy was slow to get up and eventually left the game.
The news means that the Bolts will be without one of their starting inside linebackers against both the Texans and Broncos. Perryman is eligible to return from his suspension on January 5th.
Perryman has started all 10 games he has played in this season while recording 47 total tackles, four tackles for loss, and three pass breakups. In his place, backup Troy Dye will likely earn the start against both Houston and Denver.
