The Badgers are losing another receiver to the portal.
The Wisconsin Badgers needed to keep one of their top returning receivers. Unfortunately, that won’t be the case, as the Badgers are losing coveted freshman wide receiver Eugene Hilton to the transfer portal.
Hilton, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2025, was expected to be one of Wisconsin’s leading receivers in 2025 if he returned to Madison. But, the Indiana native would likely be sought after if he were to enter the transfer portal, where a better situation could be found.
That will be the case, as the four-star is moving on after one season at Wisconsin, where he caught eight passes for 91 yards. Hilton saw his snaps increase as the season went on, but the Badgers’ reeling offense struggled to get him regular touches, just as it did for the rest of Wisconsin’s weapons.
With Hilton gone, Wisconsin is now down six of its top seven receivers from this past season. That only further amplifies the need for wide receivers in the transfer portal, which was already a must.
Wisconsin is now slated to lose Hilton, Trech Kekahuna, Vinny Anthony, Jayden Ballard, Dekel Crowdus, Kyan Berry-Johnson, and Joseph Griffin Jr at wide receiver. That’s seven of their nine scholarship wideouts. So, expect them to hit the transfer portal hard.
With increased financial resources, the Badgers needed to find a way to keep some of those top offensive playmakers. This one’s a big loss.
