PSG Debuts New Badge, But Not the One Fans Expected

PSG sports a new look, but the Club World Cup honor remains absent. Discover the subtle badge shift sparking fan debate.

During the match against Fontenay in the Coupe de France (French Cup), Paris Saint-Germain wore a new badge on its jersey for the first time. But it was not the one for the recently won Club World Cup.

Already champion of France, of Europe, and even super champion of Europe, PSG became the intercontinental champion last Wednesday with its victory against Flamengo (1-1, 2-1 on penalties).

This new title earns it one more badge on the jersey, as Luis Enrique promptly noted after the final in question. The club quickly communicated and marketed the Parisian jersey with the famous badge in question.

This Saturday, one of the stakes of the first outing for the new world champions during Fontenay vs. PSG (0-4) was therefore to see this famous badge. There was indeed a new badge on the chest of the Parisians, but not quite the expected one.

In the Coupe de France, the jerseys are configured by the French Football Federation, the competition's organizer, and the only badge present is that of the competition in question. With two different versions: one for the title holder, the other for all other clubs.

As the double title holder, PSG therefore already had a special version last year, entirely silver-gray, while the others sported a blue one. And the change on the Parisian jersey is precisely there, as the winners' badge is now gold.

To see PSG with its much more prestigious Club World Cup winner's badge, however, one will have to wait for the first match of 2026 and the derby against Paris FC on Sunday, Jan. 4. A nice twist given the complicated history between the two clubs.
