What was the worst part of the Chargers game in your opinion?
The Dallas Cowboys entered the Week 16 matchup with the Los Angeles Chargers with nothing to play for after the Philadelphia Eagles victory over the Washington Commanders officially eliminated them from the playoffs. While the Cowboys seem to make a effort, it was no surprise to see them lose 34-17 to the Chargers Sunday afternoon. We might see much of the same the final two games of the regular season.
Although it was a loss, the Cowboys did make the game somewhat entertaining Sunday afternoon. They were going toe-to-toe with the Chargers in the first half, but failed to get anything going in the second half. As a result, there was a good mixture of positives and negatives. Maybe they can build on some of the good, the bad, and the ugly from this week and apply it to the evaluation process to improve the team moving forward.
THE GOOD – CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens
In what turned out to be a rather disappointing and wasted season, the Cowboys ended up having two 1,000-yard receivers in 2025. George Pickens hit that mark weeks ago and CeeDee Lamb joined him Sunday afternoon in the loss to the Chargers. These two have arguably been the best WR duo in the entire league, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to stack more wins together this year. With the season coming to an end, it’s going to be really interesting to see how the George Pickens contract situation plays out and if Dallas will ante up.
THE BAD – Cowboys’ defense
Matt Eberflus moved from the sidelines up into the box this week in the hopes that different perspective would help improve things defensively for the Cowboys, but it didn’t seem to make the slightest difference. The Cowboys defense pretty much allowed Justin Herbert and Company to score at will from the get-go and not even Trevon Diggs’ return to the lineup made any difference. It’s hard to imagine Eberflus will stick around any longer than the next two games to close out the regular-season, meaning Dallas will be looking for a new DC shortly.
THE UGLY – Already in mock draft mode
With the Cowboys playoff hopes dead, we’ve officially entered the point of the season where we are all on draft watch to see where Dallas will select in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft. When a season starts out, you don’t want to be draft watching until you are eliminated from the playoffs. The Cowboys couldn’t even make it to the end of the season, and started turning toward the draft with three games to go. Now they have two more in a wasted season.
