After losing its first game at the City of Palms Classic, Bishop McNamara (Md.) was in need of a big performance on Saturday against Garfield Heights (Ohio).
Senior small forward Qayden Samuels and shooting guard Prince Alexander-Moody delivered just that. In a 79-59 victory, the Mustangs were carried by the pair of stars.
Samuels, the No. 23 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle, accumulated over half of the Mustangs’ points, going for 40 on 15-23 shooting. The 6-foot-6, 205-pounder drained five 3-pointers and also had 16 rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block. Alexander-Moody, a three-star Indiana signee, poured in 26 points on 10-15 shooting.
The pair accounted for all eight treys made by the Mustangs. No other Bishop McNamara player finished with more than five points. As a team, they shot over 54 percent from the floor, putting together a consistent four-quarter performance.
Garfield Heights turned the ball over 19 times and the Mustangs turned those into 30 points. They also dominated the Bulldogs down low, winning the battle in the paint 38-22. Bishop McNamara also had 24 points on fast breaks. Its lead grew as big as 27 points midway through the third quarter and it led for nearly 27 minutes of game time.
The Bulldogs were paced by senior four-star point guard Marcus Johnson. The South Carolina signee finished with 30 points and eight boards. Garfield Heights is now 0-2 at the event as it first lost to Paul VI Catholic (Va.) on Thursday.
Bishop McNamara, the No. 4 team in the nation per the Rivals Composite Rankings, is now 1-1 at the City of Palms Classic. On Friday, it lost a tight 78-74 game to Wheeler (Ga.), the No. 2 team in the nation.
The Mustangs will now take on No. 15 Long Island Lutheran (N.Y.) on Monday afternoon. The Crusaders are also 1-1 at the event after defeating Owasso (Okla.) on Saturday.
