Troy Franklin start or sit: Week 16 fantasy football advice

We break down the fantasy football outlook of Troy Franklin ahead of the Broncos’ Week 16 matchup vs. the Jaguars.

Week 16 of the 2025 NFL season continues on this afternoon with an AFC matchup with playoff implications as the Jacksonville Jaguars will visit the Denver Broncos at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Broncos downed the Packers in a big-time 34-26 victory over the Packers last Sunday and can secure the AFC West title with a win and a Chargers loss this afternoon. Wide receiver Troy Franklin came up huge for the team last week and they’ll need another great performance out of him against another playoff contender in this one.

Below, we’ll go over Franklin’s outlook in fantasy football for Week 16.

Fantasy Football analysis: Broncos WR Troy Franklin

Franklin delivered one of his better performances of the season against the Packers last Sunday, catching all six of his targets for 85 yards and a touchdown in a victory that clinched the Broncos the AFC’s first playoff spot. It was the first game of the season where he had a perfect catch rate and his 23-yard touchdown reception as time expired in the third quarter ended up putting the Broncos ahead for good.

That effort allowed Franklin finish the week as a top-10 fantasy wideout in all scoring formats, marking the third time this season where he’s pulled that off. The second-year wideout from Oregon continues to be an effective weapon for Bo Nix and it will be interesting to see if he can keep it up against the Jags this afternoon.

Start or sit in Week 16?

Sit. A couple of things should be noted here for this matchup. First, fellow wideout Pat Bryant will be returning from a hamstring injury for this showdown and that should impact the number of targets and snaps Franklin will get this afternoon. Second, the Jags secondary have been effective against WR2’s and WR3’s this season, holding them to less than 45 receiving yards per game. Unless you’re pressed for options at this point in the playoffs, I’d sit Franklin down for this game.
