‘Fire Zac. Fire Duke. Save Burrow’ goes up on billboard in Cincinnati

History repeats itself in funny ways.

History has a funny way of repeating itself. If you’ve been around long enough, you might remember the plane that flew over training camp in the late 2000s, towing a banner urging Mike Brown to sell the Bengals.

Nearly 20 years later, that same frustration has resurfaced—this time in billboard form.

Drivers heading southbound on I-75 may notice a sign on Spring Grove Avenue near Bank Street that reads, in three blunt lines of orange and white text on a black background: “Fire Zac. Fire Duke. Save Burrow.”

The message is unmistakable. It’s aimed at head coach Zac Taylor and de facto general manager Duke Tobin, who share the bulk of the responsibility for the Bengals being eliminated from the playoffs for the third consecutive season. That’s three years lost from the prime not only of Joe Burrow’s career, but also of Ja’Marr Chase’s and Tee Higgins’.

Most franchises would have already pulled the plug on a head coach and general manager under these circumstances. The Bengals, however, appear unwilling to do so. According to reports, the team is expected to retain Taylor, Tobin, and defensive coordinator Al Golden.

With fan satisfaction arguably at its lowest point since Carson Palmer forced his way out of Cincinnati, the Bengals may want to consider change before it begins to affect their bottom line—if it hasn’t already.
