Italian newspaper Il Messaggero has reported strong interest from Premier League sides for Manchester United attacker Joshua Zirkzee. West Ham United and Leeds United have been keeping tabs on the Dutch international who has slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford.
The 24-year-old joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2024 for a hefty €42.5 million fee after rebuilding his reputation at Bologna, but his spell in Manchester has yet to click, and the club may now look to recoup some of that outlay, either through a sale or a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy.
The Joshua Zirkzee saga
Since the arrival of new attacking options, Zirkzee’s place in the squad has clearly weakened, leaving him with just 354 minutes across nine appearances so far this season and only one goal to his name.
With opportunities drying up, the forward now appears open to a move in search of regular football and a defined role. Both West Ham and Leeds United have made formal checks on his availability, although early indications suggest the Dutchman remains unsure about committing to either option at this stage.

For the Hammers, the need for greater depth up front is important given the age and durability concerns surrounding parts of their attacking group, and Zirkzee could offer a longer-term solution while easing existing pressure points.
Leeds United, meanwhile, are desperate for extra goals as they fight to pull clear of relegation trouble, and they believe the striker still has enough quality to make a difference despite a frustrating spell at United. As things stand, both clubs may need to work harder to convince the player that their plans suit his next step.
Do West Ham need Joshua Zirkzee?
At West Ham, Zirkzee could fit neatly into Nuno’s setup, which usually features a lone striker built around quick breaks and directness. He has the strength to hold the ball up and bring runners like Jarrod Bowen into the game, while also showing the touch and awareness to drop deeper and help moves develop.
A move to London would ease the burden on their attack and give the Hammers a younger forward with room to grow, capable of offering goals and link-up play without changing the team’s basic approach.
