He picked up the first sack of his career on Sunday, recorded the first interception of his career, too, and earlier today, the league announced that Chicago Bears linebacker D’Marco Jackson was honored with his first NFC Defensive Player of the Week award.
Head coach Ben Johnson gave Jackson a game ball following their big win over the Cleveland Browns.
“It felt like D-Jack’s interception there in the third quarter, that was really a turning point for us,” Johnson said via the team’s site. “That was the spark that kind of ignited us on offense. Caleb came back and made an outstanding throw to DJ on the back line. To me, that’s really where the game got broken open.”
The 27-year-old Jackson added 7 tackles in the game and was also credited with 2 passes defensed. He has started the last four games for the Bears, while still playing on special teams, where he has 8 tackles and a fumble recovery. Overall, he has played in 13 games, with 41 total tackles and 2 tackles for loss, and 3 passes defended.
