A big one that the Vols badly need.
The Volunteers are finally back in action tonight after several days off, looking to end a three-game losing streak. The only issue? No. 11 Louisville is in town. Pat Kelsey has the Cardinals rolling, sitting at 9-1 on the year.
Tennessee sits at 7-3 so far this season, coming off of losses to Kansas, Syracuse and Illinois. Rick Barnes is also dealing with a season-ending injury to Cade Phillips, one that will sideline him for the rest of the season. That development will shake up the starting five tonight.
Louisville holds wins over Kentucky, Cincinnati, Indiana and Memphis so far this season. Their one blemish came at Arkansas a couple of weeks back. Senior Ryan Conwell leads the way at nearly 20 points per game, followed by freshman phenom Mikel Brown Jr. Isaac McNeely, a transfer from Virginia that Tennessee was in on, is shooting his usual 40 percent from three-point range.
The Cardinals sit tenth in Kenpom, ranked with the second best offense in the nation. Tennessee is 18th overall with the 13th best defense.
