It is Jimmy Rollins’ fifth time on the ballot. He got 18.0% last year, so he’s moved up a bit from his 9.4% the first time. But he’s not moving up quickly enough to make it.
Rollins played 17 seasons, 15 of them with the Phillies. He hit .264/.324/.418 with 231 home runs and 470 stolen bases for a 47.6 bWAR.
He was NL MVP in 2007 and received MVP votes four other times. He made three All-Star teams, won four Gold Gloves and one Silver Slugger award, and owns a World Series ring.
Jimmy had a run of five seasons with bWAR of 4.6 or more and a 25.7 bWAR in total. Most of the rest of his career he was in the 2 to 3 range.
He led the NL in at-bat times, triples four times, and stole bases once.
Rollins is sixth in MLB history in games played at short.
He’s 14th among MLB shortstops in hits. But you would have to give him a fair bit of credit for his defense to vote him into the Hall.
He was a good player on some good teams. He might get more from the veteran committee (or whatever they call that committee by the time he gets there).
