Gotta love continuity
With Collin Klein departing for the head coaching job at Kansas State next season, Texas A&M knew they needed to find a new offensive coordinator for 2026. They didn’t have to look very far, as Mike Elko announced on Monday afternoon that the Aggies will elevate WR Coach/Co-OC Holmon Wiggins to the full time OC position. Elko said they spoke to five external candidates before offering the position to Wiggins, and it was the only offer they extended.
Wiggins came to Aggieland after five seasons at Alabama as the wide receivers coach, including three seasons as the assistant head coach of offense. Given that he’s been in the program since Elko came aboard, you certainly have to expect that continuity will be the biggest plus of this hire, both from a scheme perspective as well as recruiting. However it will be his first time as the playcaller, so it’s safe to say he is a bit of an unknown, at least to those outside the Bright Complex.
Collin Klein is still with the program, and will continue to serve as OC throughout A&M’s College Football Playoff run, which begins at 11 a.m. this Saturday as the Aggies host the Miami Hurricanes at Kyle Field.
