Here are the nominees:

St. Xavier

St. Xavier's Marlon Harbin (6) runs the ball down the field during their game against Male on Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at Male High School in Louisville, Ky.

The Tigers are one of the state's top contenders heading into the 2025 season. Three seniors will lead St. Xavier: running back Marlon Harbin, linebacker Karsten Busch and quarterback Mason Trimble. Harbin and Busch were All-State selections last year and are both committed to Louisville. St. X defeated Trinity, 16-10, at home during the 2024 regular season.

Male

Male's Isaac

Key Bulldogs players Antonio Harris, Isaac "Spike" Sowells and Solomon Conley graduated after last season. Harris is scheduled to play for Louisville, and Sowells is set to suit up for N.C. State. That means senior running back Chayce Burton, who rushed for 908 yards and 15 touchdowns in eight games last year, and senior quarterback Jordan Williams will lead Male. The Bulldogs will look for another wide receiver to fill the void left by Harris, who led the team in receiving yards (574) and touchdowns (9).

Manual

Manual's Gerian Traynor celebrates the Crimsons' first touchdown in the first half over rival Louisville Male at Veterans Memorial Stadium Friday night during KHSAA football. Nov. 1, 2024

Manual lost to Great Crossing in the second round of the Class 6A playoffs last year. The Crimsons finished with the second-best scoring defense (14.2 points allowed per game) behind Trinity. Junior quarterback Kaden Mack is entering his second season as the starter. He passed for 1,466 yards and 19 touchdowns last year. Lead running back Gerian Traynor will look to build on last season, when he averaged 70 yards per game and rushed for eight scores.

Ballard

The Ballard team took the field for pregame warmups as the Trinity Shamrocks and Ballard Bruins prepared to face off in the third round of the KHSAA football playoffs on Friday, Nov. 22, 2024

The Bruins showed a lot of fight to close the 2024 season after starting 2-5. They won four of their last six games, including wins against Bullitt East, Oldham County and Male. They lost to Trinity, 35-21, in the third round of the 6A playoffs.
