Here are 3 potential breakout players Steelers fans should watch closely during training camp as they push for bigger roles.
Steelers fans rejoice — training camp has finally arrived, and players report in just a few days on July 23. Pittsburgh's 2025 roster is shaping up to be incredibly stacked — from blockbuster trade acquisitions to huge-name free agency signings this offseason. However, there are familiar Steelers primed to make their stamp this upcoming season — and these three potential breakout candidates are the players to watch at training camp.
OT Broderick Jones
Jones has finally switched back to the left side of the offensive line — the natural position for the big third-year Steeler. At June's mandatory minicamp, Jones claimed he needed "a couple more weeks" to feel more comfortable at left tackle — which works out perfectly with his arrival at training camp. After failing to live up to expectations in his first two years in the league, Jones will give fans in Latrobe a front-row seat to what he's truly capable of.
LB Payton Wilson
Wilson was one of the most underrated Steelers defenders last season — as he was arguably the best inside linebacker despite being a rookie. The sky is the limit in Year 2 as Wilson looks to not only prove that he belongs on this loaded Steelers defense, but that he's capable of becoming one of the greatest linebackers in the league.
RB Jaylen Warren
Warren, one of the most efficient running backs in the entire NFL over the past three years, is a man on a mission in 2025 — to prove he can handle the lead back role in Pittsburgh. As the 1B to former Steelers starting RB Najee Harris, Warren was explosive with almost every touch — and he'll look to prove in Latrobe that he can exceed expectations as the bell-cow back.
