Jamarion Wilcox did not play in the Wildcats’ season-opener
The Kentucky Wildcats pulled out a win on Saturday afternoon over the Toledo Rockets with a final score of 24-16. The Wildcats ended the game with 220 yards on the ground, but they did it without sophomore running back Jamarion Wilcox.
Mark Stoops was asked about the absence postgame, where the UK coach revealed that Wilcox was held out of today’s game for violating team rules. Stoops did not go into detail on the incident and said he would update the situation further in detail early next week.
Wilcox arrived at Kentucky in 2023 as a 3-star running back. The Georgia native appeared in all 12 games last season, including four starts in the Wildcats’ backfield. He ended his 2024 season with 590 yards and two touchdowns.
The redshirt sophomore was expected to be in the running back rotation to start the season, but his status is clearly uncertain moving forward.
