Mississippi State gets the 2025 season kicked off on Saturday morning at Southern Miss as the Bulldogs begin their second season under head coach Jeff Lebby.

Both teams had major struggles a year ago with Mississippi State finishing 2-10 and Southern Miss posting a 1-11 record. Saturday will also mark the coaching debut of Charles Huff, a former State assistant coach, at Southern Miss.

Mississippi State leads the all-time series, 18-12-1, and the Bulldogs have won four of the five meetings in Hattiesburg. The Bulldogs have won the last six matchups with Southern Miss and that includes road victories in 2015 and 1989.

Mississippi State’s most previous meeting with Southern Miss was in 2023. The Bulldogs captured a 41-20 decision at Davis Wade Stadium under interim head coach Greg Knox.
