Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer says it wasn't a hard decision to trade Micah Parsons.
Cowboys head coach says it was a “unanimous” decision to trade Micah Parsons originally appeared on The Sporting News
If you thought that Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer was upset that his starting linebacker Micah Parsons was traded to the Green Bay Packers, you’d be wrong.
As Schottenheimer explained at his press conference on Friday, it was a “unanimous” decision to trade him.
“Micah Parsons is an incredible player. But this is the ultimate team game. We’re not gonna win a championship with one player.”
In return for Parsons, the Cowboys received two first-round draft picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark, who was excited to be with the Cowboys.
"This is one of the most historic franchises in the league. Seeing everything here is top-notch. Everything here is big. I'm excited."
Clark added, “Just watch the film. I don’t do too much talking. My game speaks for itself. I can get off the ball with the best of them.”
Although this was a unanimous decision to trade Parsons, Schottenheimer says not matter where Parsons is, they still consider him part of the Cowboys family.
“Micah is part of the family. When you leave, that doesn’t change." After Parsons was traded, there were rumors that Parsons was starting to be a problem in the Cowboys' locker room, which is one of the reasons why he was traded.
However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Schottenheimer nor Cowboys owner Jerry Jones ever mentioned that Parsons was a cancer in the locker room. It just appears they couldn’t come to an agreement on how to handle the contract situation and decided to part ways.
After he was traded, Parsons sent a heartfelt thank you to the Cowboys staff and players and said it was an honor to wear the star.
