Speedball Bailey thinks it’s silly that fans think he has backstage heat with MVP in AEW

Bailey says it’s silly to think wrestlers hate each other based on rumors of backstage heat.

Earlier this month, there was a rumor about MVP having backstage heat in AEW, related to The Hurt Syndicate being unwilling to lose against certain teams. One of those teams was said to be JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & Speedball Mike Bailey), and it was specifically mentioned that MVP doesn’t like Bailey.

Soon after that, The Hurt Syndicate and Bailey turned the rumors into a very funny video where they each said “fuck you” to each other backstage. That seemed to be their indirect way to dismiss the rumors as nonsense.

Bailey addressed the rumors of heat more directly this week during an interview with SportsRadio 94 WIP’s Justin Dorazio. Here is their exchange about it, where Bailey used the word “silly” to describe the way some fans reacted to the whole thing.

Dorazio: “How do you deal with these reports that you guys know aren’t necessarily true, but you kind of just have to live with it?

Bailey: “He said fuck you to me. I said fuck you to him. But again, this is pro wrestling, right? I think it’s very silly to go online, read that these two pro wrestlers do not like each other, and be like, ‘Oh man, they hate each other!’

This is a wrestling show. Kevin and I tried to take the Hurt Syndicate’s tag team championships away from them many, many times for several months leading up to All In in front of thirty thousand people, where they were able to keep their championships, beating us as well as Nick Wayne and Christian Cage. But yeah, we hate each other. Of course. Sure. Yeah. Why not?

At the end of the day, whatever makes the best show for the audience is what we’re into. And I mean, if hating each other is part of that, then let’s roll with it.

Do you agree with Bailey’s assertion that it’s silly to think wrestlers hate each other based on rumors of backstage heat? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
