This weekend, the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will not include Frankie Muniz as the actor-driver suffered an injury. Muniz and his team confirmed today that he broke his wrist while at home. The accident could put the driver out of the truck for the rest of the season.

Frankie Muniz has had a season full of mishaps. This injury is, unfortunately, the latest example. Blown tires, random wrecks he had no part in, mechanical failures – Muniz has experienced all of it.

The driver, never shy to share his thoughts and feelings online, released a statement on social media. Muniz is obviously not happy with sitting out of the truck for many weeks.

“The phrase ‘FML’ (Frankie Muniz’s Life) takes on new meaning with moments like these. I’m disappointed to share that I won’t be racing at Darlington this weekend or for the next few weeks due to a distal radius fracture. Yesterday, I fell from the top of a ladder while changing the batteries in a Ring camera in my backyard. Note to self: heed the ladder warning that says, ‘Do not sit or stand on top step.’ In hindsight, a taller ladder would’ve been smarter.

“While I’m gutted to miss the races, I’m grateful it wasn’t worse. I feel for my team, who’ve poured their hearts into this season, and I’m thankful for [Ford Performance] and their unwavering support. The doctor estimates a 6-8 week recovery, so I’ll be back in the driver’s seat as soon as I’m cleared.”

There are 10 weeks left in the NASCAR season. For the Truck Series, there are seven races in that time. This puts Frankie Muniz in a tough position. Hopefully, we see Muniz return to the No. 33 truck before the end of the season.

Frankie Muniz timeline uncertain according to team

This season has been up and down for Frankie Muniz. No one expected him to compete for wins or really top-10s when he signed on to race at Reaume Brothers Racing. However, there have been moments that have been positive and shown that he has real talent behind the wheel.

Muniz started the year with a P10 finish at Daytona. It is his only top-10 this season. But he brought in P14 and P19 finishes at Michigan and Pocono as well this summer. Those were great races where he really overdrove the equipment he was in to a solid finish.

According to RBR, the timeline for Muniz’s return is not clear at this time. People recover differently. Will Muniz be comfortable enough with his wrist a week after his recovery period to get into a truck and compete in NASCAR?

Hopefully, this wrist injury heals quickly and Frankie Muniz can get back at it before the season is over. His story is a fun one to keep up with and this is another setback along the way.
