What’s the thing you’re most excited about ahead of the 2025 season?

Eric Nahlin – The defense and the possibility it takes another step to raise the floor of the season even further.

Justin Wells – How close Texas is to another national title and the Arch Manning experience.

Ian Boyd – Watching Arch Manning play quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, same as most everyone else. He has a fun skill set and it’s been a while since we had a different sort of quarterback at the helm.

Joe Cook –Arch Manning. Eric and I have told this story before but we were talking on the phone in 2022 discussing how to be ready for Arch’s decision when he announced his commitment to Texas. There aren’t many moments where your hands are shaking when you press publish. That was one of them. Now, that player is starting for the Texas Longhorns. Yeah, this is going to be fun.

Charlie Williams –Archmania. I feel he is that type of player who can get Texas over the hump!

RT Young – I’m excited to watch this team try to get over “the hump.” While 2023 was about the Big 12, 2024 was about the SEC, this year is clearly about winning a championship. Texas has been on the doorstep for two years straight, now it’s time to kick the door down.

Evan Vieth – The amount of incredible venues Texas gets to play at this year.

Paul Wadlington – Another year of good Texas football. I don’t take it for granted. It will be fun to see Arch’s growth over time.

Okay, what’s the other thing you’re most excited about for the 2025 season?

Eric Nahlin –Arch Manning and a more consistent, more explosive offense. This team can’t achieve its goals without more complementary football.

Justin Wells – The amount of NFL talent on the Texas roster and how it makes Saturdays fun again.

Ian Boyd – This Texas pass-rush. Any of Colin Simmons, Anthony Hill, Trey Moore, or Ethan Burke would have been the best pass-rusher on a lot of former Longhorn teams we’ve watched in the last decade or so. This defense has all four.

Joe Cook – The amount of sacks this defense can stack up. They do have to, as coaches like to say, earn the right to rush the passer. But once they earn that right, it’s going to be hell for opposing offenses. We’ve seen some individual standout seasons in the past decade like that of Joseph Ossai in 2020. We could see 3-4 of them this year and oh yeah, there’s that Anthony Hill guy playing right behind them and also getting involved in the action.

Charlie Williams – Seeing which teams can live up to all the hype and off-season talk and which teams have been selling wolf tickets.

RT Young – The Arch Manning experience, all of it.

Evan Vieth –Arch Manning, duh.

Paul Wadlington – The football of our opponents, but less so.

Preseason Offensive Longhorn of the Year

Eric Nahlin –Arch Manning.

Justin Wells –Trevor Goosby

Ian Boyd – Arch throws bombs.

Joe Cook –Arch Manning

Charlie Williams – I want to say Parker Livingstone, but I’ll go Ryan Wingo.

RT Young –Arch Manning

Evan Vieth –Arch Manning

Paul Wadlington –Arch Manning

Preseason Defensive Longhorn of the Year

Eric Nahlin –Anthony Hill.

Justin Wells – Anthony Hill.

Ian Boyd –Colin Simmons.

Joe Cook –Anthony Hill

Charlie Williams –Colin Simmons! Even when he’s not making a play he’s the reason somebody else is.

RT Young –Colin Simmons

Evan Vieth –Colin Simmons

Paul Wadlington –Anthony Hill
